...at the 6th Annual July Fiddle Camp sponsored by the Young Fiddlers Association of MN! This year featuring Brian Wicklund teaching fiddle and Faith Farr teaching cello and viola!

  • Dates: July 28th, 29th, 30th 2008.
  • Location: St. Pedar's Lutheran Church, 4600 E. 42nd St. Mpls, MN
  • Open to students 7 to 18 years old, minimum book 1 Suzuki experience or equivalent
  • Cost $160.00 for non-YFA member fiddlers and $155.00 for YFA member fiddlers 9:30 am-4:00pm
  • Cost $85.00 for cello and viola players 12:30pm-4pm
  • Cost $45.00 Advanced fiddle workshop with Brian 3:00-4:00pm.

Full day fiddlers will participate in fiddle, dance, and craft classes -- and all students will participate in a jam.  Advanced students who participate in the full day camp may opt to do the advanced class in place of the jam at no extra cost.

  • Fiddle students should have at least one year of study and play wth ease in first position.
  • Students will need to have or purchase The American Fiddle Method Book 1 for beginners or The American Filddle Method Book 2 for Intermediate or Advanced Fiddle students. Cello and Viola students will ned to have The American Fiddle Method Book for the Cello or Viola.
  • You may purchase these books on Brian Wicklund's Website http://www.fiddlepal.com, Groth Music in Minneapolis, Homestead Picking Parlor, or Schmitt Music. We will have a limited number of books available for purchase at the camp.
  • Students are requested to bring a bag lunch on Monday and Tuesday. Free pizza will be proivded on Wednesday.
  • Tuition covers all instruction, materials for the crafts, and pizza on Wednesday for full day fiddlers. For Cello and Viola players it includes two hours of Cello / Viola instruction per day as well as one hour a day of jamming.
  • Students registering for the advanced class should be able to play the majority of The American Fiddle Method Book 2 pieces with ease.
